Darting tap shoes, singing fairy princesses and dazzling melodies:
Get ready for all of this in the 'All singing, all dancing! musical series.
To accompany this season's premieres, the State Operetta will also be showing music films in
the atmospheric halls of the main cinema.
'Cold War' sees Polish director Paweł Pawlikowski whisk audiences away in a stirring tale of impossible love during the days of the Cold War, its sensuous black-and-white aesthetic and melancholy soundtrack fitting perfectly with Joseph Beer's operetta 'Polish Wedding'.
With the revolutionary dance performances of star choreographer Bob Fosse, 'Chicago' connects the dots to the musical production 'Pippin', for whose original staging Fosse was also responsible. In Disney's 'Cinderella' and 'Into the Woods', we dive in to a mysterious, visually stunning fairytale world, following in the footsteps of well-known heroes and heroines whom you will also encounter on stage in the likes of 'Grimm!'. To conclude the series, DEFA cult film 'Rauschende Melodien' ('Swelling Melodies') indulges in world-famous melodies from Johann Strauss' 'Die Fledermaus'.
And it's time to call 'Cut!', enjoy a support act by State Operetta artists with live music from our productions.
Venue: Main cinema at the Arsenal Kraftwerk Mitte
