Timo Schabel

Born in Leonberg, Timo Schabel studied at the state academy of music in Mannheim under Prof Alejandro Ramírez. He was further inspired by German tenor Oly Pfaff, KS Angelika Kirchschlager, Kobie van Rensburg and Juan Diego Flòrez. Even while studying, Timo Schabel was an active concert and church-music singer. As such, his repertoire encompasses not only Bach's Evangelist, but also works such as Handel's Judas Maccabeus and The Messiah, Mozart's Requiem, Haydn's The Creation, Mendelssohn's Paulus and Rossini's Petite messe solennelle. Guest performances saw him take to the stage at the Schwetzinger Festspiele, the Sommer Oper Bamberg and the Easter Festival in Baden-Baden. Following a stint at the Opera Studio, Tim Schabel has been a member of the Oldenburg State Theatre company since the 2018/19 season. His roles there have included Camille de Rosillon in Lehár's The Merry Widow, Mime in Wagner's Rheingold, Pedrillo in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail (The Abduction from the Seraglio) and Orpheus in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld. He has worked as a singer at the State Operetta since the 2019/20 season.
