Vergessene Welten

Forgotten worlds
Concert with unknown pieces by Franz Lehár, Giacomo Puccini and Claude Debussy
Think you're a full bottle on Vienna's operas and operettas? Then test your knowledge using this concert programme. Principal conductor Johannes Pell will whisk you away into the scores of unknown works such as Carl Millöcker's 'Der arme Jonathan' ("Poor Jonathan") and Franz Lehár's 'Eva', enriched by forays into Wilhelm Kienzl's musical play 'Der Evangelimann' ("The Evangelist"), whose eponymous figure picks up on an historic character from the backstreets of Vienna. From Vienna, we embark on a journey to neighbouring Italy and France, where contemporaries such as Ottorino Respighi, Giacomo Puccini and Claude Debussy particularly challenge the orchestra's instrumental prowess.
